1. Who We Are

Nett is a personal finance app for tracking budgets, transactions, goals, and income. This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and your rights over it.

2. Data We Collect and Why

A. Financial Data (stays on your device)

All financial data you enter — transactions, budgets, goals, account balances, and settings — is stored exclusively on your device. This data is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

B. Analytics Data (PostHog)

The app uses PostHog, an open-source analytics platform, to collect anonymous usage data that helps us understand how the app is used and improve the user experience.

Data collected by PostHog includes:

App screens visited and features used (e.g. "Transactions screen opened", "Goal added")
Session duration and frequency of use
Device type, operating system version, and app version
A pseudonymous session or device identifier (not linked to your real identity)
IP address — anonymized before storage (last octet removed)

PostHog does not receive your financial data, transaction amounts, account names, or any personally identifiable information.

Legal basis (GDPR): Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) — improving app quality and stability. You may opt out at any time by contacting us at nithinvempati9@gmail.com.

3. Optional Backup

Nett offers an optional backup feature. When you tap "Backup Now" or "Export Data", the app creates a local file on your device, then uses your operating system's native share sheet to let you choose where to save it (e.g. iCloud Drive, Google Drive, email).

The app does not upload data to our servers
We do not have access to your iCloud, Google Drive, or other cloud accounts
Your backup file's security is governed by the service you choose to save it to
Automatic backups can be disabled at any time in Settings

4. Data Sharing

We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

PostHog: anonymous usage events (see Section 2B)
Apple / Google: in-app purchase transactions processed through their respective platforms

We do not sell your data. We do not share financial data or personally identifiable information with any third party.

5. Data Retention

On-device financial data: Retained until you delete it via Settings → Danger Zone → Delete All Data, or uninstall the app.
Analytics data (PostHog): Retained for 12 months, then automatically deleted.

6. Your Rights & Data Deletion

All users

Delete on-device data: Settings → Danger Zone → Delete All Data — removes all transactions, accounts, goals, budgets, and settings from your device instantly.
Delete analytics data: Email nithinvempati9@gmail.com with subject "Delete My Data" — we will submit a deletion request to PostHog within 7 days. PostHog purges the data within 30 days.
Export your data: Settings → Export Data
Opt out of analytics: Email nithinvempati9@gmail.com — we will disable collection for your device.

EU / UK users (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Right to access: request a copy of data we hold about you
Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
Right to data portability
Right to object to processing based on legitimate interest
Right to withdraw consent at any time
Right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority

California users (CCPA)

Right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used

Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell data)

7. Children's Privacy

Nett is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Data Security

All financial data stored on-device using encrypted storage
Analytics data transmitted to PostHog over HTTPS with IP anonymization

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use your device's built-in security features (passcode, biometric lock, full-disk encryption).

9. International Data Transfers

PostHog may process data outside your country of residence, including in the United States. These transfers are made subject to appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses for EU data). For details, refer to PostHog's privacy policy.

10. Changes to This Policy

We will update this Privacy Policy when any material change occurs. We will notify you via an in-app notice at least 7 days before changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
